WhiteTree fabrics are delighted to welcome Amy Beeton to the WhiteTree Blogging Team.
Amy is a working mum, originally from down south but she moved up north to attend university and hasn’t looked back. Now living in Leeds, Amy says she sews for sanity, heralding the craft as her lifeline when juggling parenthood and working full-time. Sewing provides an opportunity to be creative, be yourself and use your free evenings doing something other than watching TV and eat cake.
Before having her son she didn’t seem to have time for a hobby outside of work and socialising. Becoming a parent freed up her evenings, and rekindled her love of craft. Amy taught herself to knit during her pregnancy and as her son grew, she wanted to make fun and colourful clothes that reflected his bubbly personality. Knitting’s great, but sewing is much faster, and Amy enjoys re-using and up-cycling fabric found in charity shops and car boot sales. It’s great to be able to say, you made 3 garments and the total cost was 50p!
Why BarmyBeetroot? Barmy because she embraces the wacky, surreal and adventurous parts of life, and beetroot because she loves vegetables, being a vegetarian for 17 years and vegan for the last 4 of them. Her name is almost in there too.
